One must know the full context of a situation to really answer this blog prompt. I choose to be transparent about the way I will go about answering this prompt. In all honesty, I do not look at a well-known activist or a leader of a movement or organization as a person I admire. The person I will be talking about probably would not want the title of an activist or a leader. She may not want it but she consistently shows characteristics of a good activist or a leader. I say this will be a tricky prompt because I am not sure if this person was involved in organizing but she did have a role in it. The person I admire that is involved in or had a role in organizing is Kehlani. Kehlani is a singer who uses her platform all the time to bring situations to light. This one particular event I am speaking on is when she used her platform to promote a protest in Oakland, California, her hometown, for George Floyd. She did not have to do that at all but she did. This is one event but she has used her platform for greater good on numerous occasions. She has called out serial rapists, she has spoken up for the LGBTQ+ community, has helped provide resources for women and many more. Whatever issue that is occuring in America, or even worldwide she has spoken about it. I think the reason she is so involved is because she has herself been through a lot of tough situations. She can empathize with people because she knows what pain and struggle is. I admire her because she truly is a good person. She radiates love and positivity. She is a person to admit when she is wrong and uses her life as a learning experience. I never met this woman a day in my life but that is what I sense from her. When it comes to speaking on issues she always comes with correct information. In a way, she is somewhat a reliable source. She always makes sure she has facts and is open to learning more. That is what makes her advocating important. She is always open to learning, being corrected, or just being knowledgeable. Overall, she wants the best for the people and the world. That is clear when it comes to her. I admire her a lot because she has qualities that I would love to possess. I would love to be brave and call people out. I would love to be able to touch people with my words and actions. I would love to radiate love and positivity. I can achieve that just in my own way and on my own time. I would consider Kehlani to be a good leader because she knows her power. She knows she has a huge following and she uses it correctly. Kehlani knows that what she says has power and she uses that for the greater good. That is why she always uses it for issues happening in the world and not to start drama with another person. A good leader uses their gifts for the greater good. Whatever that gift may be they use it to help others. This helps put good in the world. Kehlani uses her platform and she inspires me and many others. With that inspiration me and many others would like to follow in her footsteps. This can be a chain of positive energy in the world.
